Country Club of Virginia Wedding | Caroline & Trip
Caroline & Trip’s Country Club of Virginia wedding in Richmond is proof that even the Hampton-Sydney versus Randolph-Macon College rivalry can’t stop true love.
I was so excited when Caroline asked me to photograph her wedding. I had shot her sister Lauren’s beautiful waterside wedding 2.5 years earlier and just loved their sweet family and fun friend group.
Caroline and Trip met online in August 2020. Because of the pandemic, they only saw each other in person once a month for the first few months of dating. However, they Facetimed every day for two to six hours at a time!
While getting to know each other, they found out they already had a connection through their parents. Trip's dad and Caroline’s mom graduated in the same class at Randolph-Macon.
Trip and Caroline attended rival colleges—she went to Randolph-Macon, and he went to Hampden-Sydney, but their paths never crossed while they were in school. Their first date ended up being five hours long because they decided to keep it going and explore the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts--one of their favorite places in Richmond.
When I arrived at the venue, Caroline already had all her details set aside for me (I love my organized brides!) Caroline wore her grandmother's bracelet, and the sapphires in her engagement ring were Trip's grandmother’s. She also wore a blue garter belt that has been worn by generations of women in her family.
Caroline painted the watercolors used in her invitation suite envelope liner and the table numbers, and her mother designed the invitations. Caroline also hand-decorated champagne bottles with pink florals that matched the wedding theme for her bridesmaids. (These ladies are so talented!)
During the ceremony and reception, a live wedding painter captured a moment from the couple’s ceremony and had the sweetest reveal at the end of the night. (Scroll toward the end to see the finished painting!)
At the end of cocktail hour, Trip popped the cork off champagne using a sword before everyone headed into the ballroom for dinner and dancing.
The couple shared the sweetest last dance while their friends and family lined up by the classic Bentley for the couple’s exit.
Caroline & Trip, I love seeing how much fun the two of you have together and how deeply you care for one another. It was an honor to photograph your beautiful wedding day.
