Estate at River Run Wedding in the Fall

Jessica & Dan’s Estate at River Run wedding featured blue and white florals and decor that perfectly matched the gorgeous puffy cloud-filled blue skies.

The couple met at a bar in Washington, DC in late 2015. (Fun fact - they don’t agree on which bar it was!) Jess was still in college and Dan had just started working in northern Virginia. Their friendship grew, and they started dating in 2017, moved in together in 2019, and Dan proposed in 2023.

Jump to September 2024, and I arrived at River Run to find the bridesmaids in the middle of hair and makeup in the stunning bridal suite. The guys were tucked away in the pool house, making this the perfect venue for couples who don’t want to see each other before the wedding.

After a quick champagne toast in the bathtub, the bridesmaids all got dressed, and we headed out front of the house for portraits while the groomsmen took portraits at the pool house and on the crepe path at the back of the house. Dividing up the estate’s property into zones like this is a great way to capture photos before the ceremony so the couple can head to part of cocktail hour—even if they don’t have a first look!

After a touching wedding ceremony on the blue stone terrace, the couple headed up the grand staircase into the Wedgewood Ballroom where they enjoyed cocktails and a stop at the oyster bar before heading back outside for family portraits.

Toasts and dinner were held in the Tuscan Ballroom, and guests headed upstairs afterward for dancing in the Wedgewood Ballroom. At the night's end, guests joined the couple for a sparkler send-off.
