National Cathedral & Willard Intercontinental Hotel Wedding | Katie & John
With its iconic locations, Katie & John’s National Cathedral Ceremony & Willard Intercontinental Hotel Wedding Reception epitomized a DC luxury wedding.
Wedding welcome events began with a tennis event at Trump National Golf Club. The groom is an avid tennis player and had a great time celebrating with friends on the courts!
The next night, they headed to Perry Belmont House for their rehearsal dinner and welcome party. Perry Belmont House is one of my favorite DC wedding venues, and it was so much fun capturing some quick portraits of the couple before the festivities got underway. (Check out Katie’s outfit with the perfect blue dress with the epic bow and her long gloves!)
Willard Hotel Wedding
The two started their day getting ready at the historic Willard Intercontinental Hotel. The Willard is gorgeous, and it’s in the best location. We even managed to get a few shots at the Round Robin Bar (established 1847!) with the groom and groomsmen, as well as outside with the Washington Monument and Capitol in the background. It’s so cool to be photographing a couple getting ready in the same place that Abraham Lincoln hung out before his inauguration.

After sharing an emotional first look with her dad, they headed to the National Cathedral. I rode with the two of them and loved being able to capture Katie’s bridal portraits and candid shots of the two of them before the ceremony. What an incredible location for a fairy tale wedding.
Construction on the National Cathedral began in 1907, and it is now the second-largest cathedral in the US and one of the 20 largest in the world. Sitting on 59 acres that include the Bishop’s Garden, the Cathedral has hosted countless presidential functions.
After their ceremony in the high altar, we headed to the Women’s Porch, and the courtyard behind it for wedding party photos. Then, the couple headed to Bishop’s Garden for portraits before heading back to the Willard on the trolley with their friends.

I always love working with Marriage and Mimosas, and they perfectly executed the couple’s vision, nailed the vibe, and created such a fun experience for the guests. Free Spirit Band kept the dance floor packed, and after a dress change for the bride, the couple re-entered the reception to level-up the party with bottle service, confetti poppers and late night snacks of fries and personal pizzas. (Served in custom monogrammed boxes, of course!)
Katie & John, your whole wedding weekend was a blast. Thanks so much for trusting me to capture this chapter of your love story!
